Where does our produce come from?
Earth-friendly farms, of course! We work with local farmers as much as possible, and we source produce from Colorado as long as it keeps coming from the ground.

During the winter, we bring in wonderful organic items primarily from California, Arizona and Mexico.

How fresh is our produce?
As fresh as possible. We are constantly receiving fresh produce from our farms, making it farm-direct. This means our produce does not sit in open grocery bins for who knows how long [indeterminate amounts of time] . We remove the grocery store stop and start packing your box as soon as it arrives. The produce is delivered to us at the time closest to packing to minimize any unnecessary extra cooler time.

Do you have other products besides produce?
Yes. At the moment we offer a few other groceries, such as Alaskan Salmon, Coffee, Colorado Jams, Nuts and more. We are currently looking to expand this service, so please email us with any products you would like delivered with your order at, newfood@doortodoororganics.com.

Why Organic?
Organic products are better for your health and for the environment. They are grown without the use of synthetic chemicals and fertilizers. They also are free of sludge from human-waste treatment facilities.

Is all of your produce certified organic?
Absolutely!

Are all of your groceries certified organic?
All items are certified organic except for two, Wild Salmon and Honey. Since fish and bees graze over large expanses of water and fields, it is difficult to track what each of them eats.

What does a USDA organic certification mean?
The USDA ensures consumers that their organic food has not been processed or grown using synthetic fertilizers and pesticides. It also means the food could not have been produced using genetic engineering, growth hormones, irradiation or antibiotics. Farms growing under the USDA label must maintain strict records of their farm's activities and are subject to regular and surprise inspections.

Farms must have been free of most chemicals for three years before being certified, and must undergo many soil tests. Also, crops must be rotated, meaning the same crop is not grown on the same plot of land year after year.

Please visit the National Organic Program for more information.

How long will the produce maintain freshness if left outside?
If you have a spare cooler that you can set outside, that is the best place for us to leave your produce. During the winter, without a cooler, your produce should be fine for several hours. During the summer, we pack your produce on ice, and it will be fine for several hours then, too. "Lettuce" know if there is a shady place that you would like us to leave your box.

How does our service work?
During the week we speak with farmers and distributers to find out what produce will be fresh for the following week. On Friday morning by 9am we send you an email with a link to our website which has the coming week's menu. Once you click on the link you can log onto your account. Click on your order ID under "current orders" to make up to three substitutions. Extra items can also be added on this page.

How do your prices compare to buying from the store?
On average, our prices are less expensive than buying from the store. Additionally, when you add up the costs of transportation and the cost of your time, your savings are greatly increased.

How do I figure out what box to get?
Things to consider are how frequently you cook and how often you eat produce. Also consider how many people will be eating from your box. Check out our box sizes and see how they might meet your veggie and fruit demands. If your first box is too small or too large, it is very easy to change box sizes for your next delivery.
